Harav Chaim Soloveitchik זצ”ל, known throughout the Torah world as Reb Chaim Brisker, was one of the preeminent Gedolei Yisroel of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in 1853 in Volozhin to his illustrious father, the Beis HaLevi זצ”ל, Reb Chaim quickly became renowned for his unparalleled התמדה, exceptional חריפות, and profound mastery of Shas and Poskim. His brilliance and depth in learning earned him a place among the greatest Gedolim of his generation.
Reb Chaim developed the revolutionary Derech Halimud that became known as the “Brisker Derech,” transforming the study of Torah and laying the foundation for much of the עולם הישיבות as we know it today. Beyond his greatness in Torah, he was revered for his extraordinary מידות, compassion for every Yid, and unwavering dedication to the needs of Klal Yisroel. His תלמידים and descendants carried forward his legacy, and his teachings continue to illuminate the Batei Medrash throughout the world more than a century after his petirah in 1918.
